As of press time, the Cleveland Browns have already signed three defensive tackles to the roster. Two of these are rotational pieces that the team probably doesn’t want to start, while the third, Dalvin Tomlinson is more of a pass-rusher. The team needs help rushing the quarterback, but so far the three defensive tackles (and one defensive end) are all about helping the pass rush.

The Browns need more help than that, however. They need someone who can fill the gaps up front and help stop the run, something the Browns were awful at last year. He isn’t by any means an elite-level player, but Greg Gaines remains a solid option for the Browns. He’s a better version of Taven Bryan and has a better history of stopping the run than Bryan.

If you were to combine his arrival with that of Tomlinson or Calis Campbell (or even Bobby Wagner), the Browns front four will likely be the best it’s been since the team arrived in 1999. Imagine a front four that features Myles Garrett, Tomlinson, Gaines, and Campbell. It’d be a short-term fix for the team but the defensive line would be among the best in the league at least for a season or two.
