Cavs Top 3: Cleveland Cavaliers cruise to a win and clinch a playoff birth in the process
By Chad Porto
The Cleveland Cavaliers are playoff-bound thanks to a win against the Houston Rockets.
The Cleveland Cavaliers knocked off the Houston Rockets on Sunday evening to the tune of 108-92, clinching a playoff birth for the 2023 NBA Postseason in the process. This all means the Cavs are going to be playing meaningful basketball in April without LeBron James on their roster for the first time since 1998. James perennially led the Cavs to the playoffs during his two stings here, getting the team to five NBA Finals and one NBA Championship. The Cavs have not even made it into the playoffs properly since Shawn Kemp was their star player.
That’s now all changed, as the Cavs are going into the playoffs and will likely meet the New York Knicks in the opening round. Things can still change, however, as the Cavs are two games back from the Philadelphia 76ers, and have six games left to play.
The Cavs only have one team with a winning record left to face, the aforementioned Knicks. The Cavs have two games against the Orlando Magic still, a game against the Atlanta Hawks, another game against the Charlotte Hornets, and a game against the Indiana Pacers.
The Cavs should hit the 50-win mark on the season and if everything goes well, they may very well get the Brooklyn Nets to open the playoffs.
