The final standings for the Cleveland Cavaliers as the regular season comes to a close
By Chad Porto
The Cleveland Cavaliers have finished up their regular season.
The Cleveland Cavaliers made the call to sit anyone who wanted rest in their regular-season finale against the Charlotte Hornets. Caris LeVert, Isaac Okoro, Darius Garland, and Donovan Mitchell opted to sit out, while Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley elected to play their final regular-season home game.
The duo did so to help keep themselves in a rhythm come April 15, when the Cavs open up the playoffs against the New York Knicks. However, even though they elected to play, both Allen and Mobley, as well as Cedi Osman, were held to limited minutes. This seems to suggest that Osman will have a role to some degree in the playoffs.
The lack of minutes given out allowed guys like Danny Green and Sam Merrill to put up some excellent numbers in the regular season finale, with both doing so off the bench. Ricky Rubio and Dean Wade joined Osman, Mobley, and Allen in the starting lineup and unlike the other three, Rubio and Wade both played for 20+ minutes.
While the team didn’t shoot well (39% from the floor, 27% from three), it was nice seeing 12 players get at least 12 minutes a piece in the game. Of all the players who played over the last two games, Green has shown that he’s worthy of playing some minutes in the playoffs, so hopefully, he gets a shot.
As for the regular season finale, the Hornets beat the Cavs 106-95.
