The Cleveland Cavaliers could see a massive shakeup if the team fumbles in the playoffs.

The goal of every NBA season is to win. As with most major American sports, there are three championships that a team can win. There’s the division, in which case the Central Division, which the Milwaukee Bucks already won. Then there’s the conference title, which is up for grabs in the Eastern Conference Finals. And of course, there’s the NBA Championship, which is contended for in the NBA Finals.

So if a team can win, two or even all three of those, that’s a solid year. If a team doesn’t win won or is bounced from the playoffs rather easily, that’s when things get murky. A team that wins 50+ games is great. A team that loses all four of their first round-playoff games by 20+ points per game is not one you want to bring back.

So, should the unlikely happen and the Cavs get embarrassed, things will change around here. I don’t see that happening, I think the Cavs get to the second round at least and compete against whomever, but there’s always a chance that happens. So if it does happen, what, and more specifically who would be expected to change?

There are five players who have gotten serious minutes and could be gone next year, and we’re going to talk about them. But first, let’s just admit that three names who aren’t going anywhere are Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley, and Jarrett Allen. The three of them have proven to be the backbones of the team and are on the do-not-trade block in my opinion.

Two final points;

1. Yes, Isaac Okoro could easily be traded this offseason as well as anyone else, he’s so consistent in what he does, it seems unlikely he’d fall apart in the postseason.

2. We’re not talking about the bench guys, like Robin Lopez or Raul Neto.
