7 worst free agents signed by the Cleveland Browns since 1999

Willis McGahee
Now, Willis McGahee may have been one of the least productive players the Cleveland Browns ever signed, but he at least bucks the trend of being overpaid. McGahee only cost the Browns $940k and was only brought in on a one-year deal. All that being said, the contract wasn’t the issue. It was bringing him in at all.
McGahee was a person that many Cleveland fans knew well from his time with the Miami Hurricanes. The Hurricanes played the Ohio State Buckeyes in the 2003 National Championship game and took a helmet to the knee from OSU safety Will Allen. The hit tore three of four ligaments in his knees (ACL, PCL, MCL) and required extension surgery that kept him out of the 2003 season.
He’d be drafted by the Buffalo Bills and would make his debut in 2004, where he’d have a great debut season of 1,128 yards and 13 touchdowns. He’d have a solid career, going to two Pro Bowls in Baltimore and Denver, while splitting time with La’Ron Mclain and Ray Rice in Baltimore, and Lance Ball and Knowshon Moreno in Denver.
By the time he got to Cleveland, he was running on fumes, and he only mustered 2.7 yards per carry.
