The Cleveland Browns are asking fans to submit a new logo idea for the Dawg Pound

Cleveland Browns fans, are you tired of the prototypical bulldog design the Browns currently use? Well, if you are, you can be part of the change. Not only that, but you can be the change you want to see.

Fans can now submit their own “DAWG” logo (one per applicant) and winners will get four club seats to a Browns home game, more than likely selected by the team. It’s not a great package considering the amount of money they’re saving by doing this, but if you’re interested, you can surely submit your own idea.

You can submit your idea HERE. Here’s what the website had to say;

"The Browns are set to unveil a new DAWG logo, and they want the fans at the center of it all! Later this spring, the Browns will put FOUR options up for a fan vote. ONE of those options will be the winner of this contest, which will also be decided by the fans! Submit your design and round up as many votes as possible to have a chance to be the fan-represented option in our upcoming logo vote! Voting opens Thursday. The winning designer will win FOUR (4) Club Seats to a 2023 Browns home game and a Browns prize pack that includes an autographed jersey."

Should the Cleveland Browns change their team logo?

The Cleveland Browns are looking for a new logo, either for the Dawg Pound for the center of the field, replacing Brownie the Elf. The Brownie at center field in 2022 was a fan-made creation as well, and with all of this talk about changing up secondary logos, it has to be asked; should the Browns change up the orange helmet logo?

I mean, yes, right? The Browns are not some great, iconic franchise, not when it comes to franchise success. Since the 1990s, the team has had four winning seasons; 1994, 2002, 2007, and 202. That’s it. They have as many seasons with a winning record as they were gone from the league (’96-’99).

They have 42 seasons of losing football. Whatever this nostalgia that fans have for an era that’s several lifetimes ago has to end. Just because a team has had one logo for 75 years doesn’t mean they should keep it. Not if it’s associated with losing. And man, it sure is. They are 127-258-1 since returning to the league.

This team has image issues, and a new logo may help rejuvenate the fanbase. I mean, when Tampa Bay went from the Devil Rays to just the Rays, their whole franchise turned around. Sure, it had more to do with having smart GMs who could keep a sustained farm system in place, but many media outlets did call it an exorcism.

Moreover, Tampa Bay majority owners said they removed the Devil from their name, saying;

"We were tied to the past, and the past wasn’t necessarily something we wanted to be known for."

So why are Browns fans so stuck to a history of losing? Get rid of the orange helmet logo, embrace change, and try something new. There’s no reason to continue to tie yourself to dead traditions.
