Logan Allen may have given Cleveland Guardians fans a taste of the future
By Chad Porto
The Cleveland Guardians may have found their next ace in Logan Allen.
The Cleveland Guardians had an utter garbage series against the Miami Marlins. They lost two of three to a team that is surprisingly off to a good start. They lost the first two games, scoring just two runs in each, and the third saw James Karinchack nearly blow the lead with three runs in the 8th inning.
Yet, the one good thing that came out of all this was the debut of vaunted rookie prospect Logan Allen. Allen pitched six complete innings, striking out eight, and giving up just one run on five hits. Considering the Guardians have had issues with their starting pitching all season, especially when it comes to striking out players, the arrival of Allen could not have come at a better time.
The Guardians offense needs to get their stuff together, as the whole unit has hit an early-season slump, with guys like Steven Kwan, Jose Ramirez, Oscar Gonzalez, and Josh Naylor all dragging to start the season. Hot-starters Mike Zunino and Myles Straw’s hot-starts have also cooled off, though both are still playing well.
Cleveland Guardians and Miami Marlins Series Review
Game Recap
Shane Bieber looks very pedestrian this season, with his latest outing only going 5.2 innings, giving up four hits, four walks, three earned runs, and striking out only four batters. The offense mustered just four hits.
Zach Plesac is on his last legs as a starter in Cleveland it looks like, going just five innings, giving up 10 hits and two walks, while striking out five. One of Plesac’s better games, sadly. Steven Kwan and Oscar Gonzalez managed to register two hits, and two RBIs between one another.
Logan Allen already got his due, but Jose Ramirez and Josh Bell combined for six RBIs on the day and were able to defeat the Marlins on their offensive output alone it seems. Amed Rosario also got to register four runs scored on the day as well.
