The Cleveland Cavaliers were embarrassed in their series loss to the New York Knicks.

The Cleveland Cavaliers 2022-2023 season is officially over after losing to the New York Knicks four games to one. It was a series defined by poor offensive performances from most of the Cavs’ top offensive producers, which saw the Knicks easily win three-straight games.

Early I wrote that if the Cavs got swept in a string of blowout losses, this team would be in trouble, and while the Cavs did steal a win, the fact is this is as bad as it got. This was a 50+ win team that couldn’t muster to score 100 points in four of five games. Made even more damning by how, supposedly, “elite” the two guards the team has actually are.

Changes may need to happen this offseason, certainly when it comes to the bench, but the Cavs should seriously entertain offers to improve this roster, even if one of the guards has got to go.

Until then, we’re left wondering how and why this happened to the Cavs. How did this team fall apart against the Knicks, and why did the Cavs fail to beat a team they were built very well to contend with? Those are the questions we’re going to answer right now.
