The Cleveland Browns would do well to sign these three players from the XFL.

The Cleveland Browns are looking at a very bare-bones 2024 at this rate. With Deshaun Watson’s ballooning contract ($63 million next year), the Browns have to find some inexpensive and high-end talent. That’s the only way the team is going to continue their push for the playoffs and beyond once next year comes around.

The team is going to have to cut some guys, names like Amari Cooper, Joel Bitonio, and maybe even Nick Chubb are being considered as possibilities. All to pay Watson. We know that cuts are going to be made, but we don’t know which of the players are going to be on their way to a new city in 2024.

That’s why the Browns need to get in on the ground floor now and look at players who have turned the world upside down in the XFL. None of these players should be seen as huge names, but maybe, in the right system and with the right coaches, these three men can surprise the league and keep the Browns’ offense rolling as well as ever.

Here’s our list of the three defensive players we think the Cleveland Browns should sign.

Here are three XFL players the Cleveland Browns need on offense for the long-haul

RB Jacques Patrick

Jaques Patrick may be the best all-around running back in the XFL this season. He rushed for 443 yards, for a yard-per-carry of 3.9, while rushing for five touchdowns. Those aren’t great numbers on their own, but he’s the best dual-back in the XFL. He caught 30 passes for 238 yards. That’s nearly 700 all-purpose yards in just 10 games. Behind a better offensive line, he may be far more impressive.

WR Chris Blair

Chris Blair was the XFL version of a big-play guy. He just 26 passes, but had nearly 600 receiving yards (594), and a 22.3-yard-per-catch average. At 6’2, and 200 lbs, he’s a big target that has deep-threat capabilities. Whether it translates is anyone’s guess, but he could be a big problem for NFL defenses.

WR Josh Gordon

Let’s not grasp our pearls on this one, folks. We’re the team that has Deshaun Watson on our roster. We had Kareem Hunt and Malik McDowell. We’re owned by Jimmy Haslam. A man with addiction issues no longer makes our Top 10 for Most Problematic Players Currently list. Josh Gordon was a huge player in the XFL. He had 540 receiving yards, on just 38 receptions, and four touchdowns. I’m not sold on the Browns receiver room and while it’s improved, that isn’t the same thing as good. Give Gordon a shot.
