This is the worst trade we’ve seen this offseason involving the Cleveland Cavaliers and Jarrett Allen.

Number one, Jarrett Allen isn’t going anywhere this offseason. Number two, Jarrett Allen isn’t going anywhere this offseason. So let’s not play this game. What game, you ask? The game where every armchair GM tries to amass a “good trade” for players they think might no longer fit. It never works, it always comes off cheesy and frankly, we’re better than that.

The notion that the Cleveland Cavaliers want to trade Jarrett Allen doesn’t exist. The notion the Cavs would trade Jarrett Allen to the Dallas Mavericks for Maxi Kleber and Reggie Bullocks doesn’t only not exist, it’s a downright insult.

Allen is an All-Star NBA center, with Defensive Player of the Year talents, and will one day be a member of the NBA All-Defensive Team, alongside teammate Evan Mobley, who already resides on that team. Trading Allen for sub-part roleplayers and what would hopefully be for Maverick fans, a late-first-round pick, makes zero sense.

Sure, a trade for Joel Embiid or Nikola Jokic, sure, you can make a case that trading Allen is a necessary thing. No one would disagree with you. But trading him for spare parts from a bad team?

That’s like going to an auto dealer looking to buy a new car, and instead, you get two and a half tires and a rusted muffler, with a warranty thrown on for the next 84 hours covering theft of the recently purchased parts. No one in their right mind would accept that offer.

The Cleveland Cavaliers would be morons to accept this trade for Jarrett Allen

I can’t believe someone suggested this trade with a straight face, I really can’t. Two 30-somethings, one on the final year of his deal, the other notorious for being a bad scorer off the bench, for one of the NBA’s 10 best centers? Dare I say Top 5 depending on how we view Anthony Davis (power forward or center?).

I don’t want anyone fired for doing their job, but perhaps the person that suggested such a criminally negligent trade could be moved to the mail room?

Because this…this isn’t it and whoever suggested this awful trade should be a bit ashamed.
