The DeAndre Hopkins to the Cleveland Browns rumors are out of hand
By Chad Porto
The Cleveland Browns aren’t going to get DeAndre Hopkins but he’s also definitely coming in; it just depends who you ask.
The Cleveland Browns want former Houston Texans and Arizona Cardinal DeAndre Hopkins, but Hopkins doesn’t want Cleveland. But he loves Cleveland definitely wants to play with his good friend Deshaun Watson. But the Browns don’t have the money for Hopkins, but Hopkins may not be asking for a lot of money and he may not love Cleveland but he’s been seen in Cleveland.
But…it’s getting a bit ridiculous with all the cross-information. It’s not shocking to hear there are differing opinions about Hopkins’s desires, as it’s clear that different reporters have different sources close to Hopkins on the matter. Different sources may be getting different vibes about his next moves, which is why you have people like Josina Anderson and Aaron Wilson.
Anderson said on June 1 that a reunion isn’t likely to happen with Watson in Cleveland, but on June 2, Wilson said that Hopkins to Cleveland is a “strong possibility”.Ben Axelrod claimed that Las Vegas has the Browns at the top of the board for betting odds to land Hopkins.
So who’s right? Well, maybe everyone.
The Cleveland Browns are both in and out on DeAndre Hopkins
The people talking about this situation are not talking about it from the same perspective. Say what you will about Anderson, but her report is not about Hopkins’ desires, but the Browns. She’s under the belief the team doesn’t want to add anyone and considering how slimy the organization is, they may have said that to her. Whether it’s true or not isn’t relevant, I do believe they told her that.
While Wilson, on the other hand, seems to be talking to people from or within Hopkins’ camp directly.
For all we know, the Browns are in fact working to bring Hopkins in but are saying they’re not to avoid ruffling any feathers with any of the talent on the team already. After all, we all know that most of the Browsns’ receiving room isn’t the best, but you don’t want them to know that. If you go out of your way to leak that you’re trying to bring in Hopkins, many talents will take it that way.
And then you get a bunch of ego-hurt prima donnas. After all, the receiver position is often seen as the most delicate bunch of egos in football. Hopkins to the Browns is very likely, I would imagine, and I’d be surprised if the team didn’t at least land him on a one-year deal.
