Greg Newsome Trade Shakes Up Final Browns 7-Round Mock Draft
5. 206th overall: Jordan Magee, LB, Temple
You can never have too many athletic linebackers, especially guys who could excel right away on special teams. The Browns need to add depth at the off-ball linebacker position after signing veterans Jordan Hicks and Devin Bush to sort of overhaul the position group alonside Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah this offseason.
Jordan Magee is one of the more underrated off-ball linebackers in this class, although this isn't a very good crop of off-ball linebackers in general.
Magee was highly productive at Temple and showed off hiw playmaking skills the past few years with 80 tackles and 14 tackles for loss last season. He makes plays behind the line of scrimmage, he makes plays in coverage, and he does it all because he not only has great athletic traits but great instincts at the position.
With his combination of instincts and aggressiveness, I wouldn't be shocked to see Magee go two rounds earlier than this when all is said and done, especially in a weak linebacker class. But the Browns should be doing backflips if he's available to them here.
