Browns Running Game Needs To Get Going

The running game was atrocious against the Jets. While many Browns fans solely focus on the QB situation the Browns are facing every day, I’m beginning to think the running game is going along the same path. The passing game last week was far from perfect.

However, at least there were a few shining moments that gave me hope that they will improve and become a good group before the season’s end.

More from Cleveland Browns

The running game has been sub-par at every moment since training camp started. This really concerns me. One would think with how much concern was brought to the Browns running game, that they would be able to shoulder at least some of the load for the offense. But they have yet to even do that.

The running back trio of Duke Johnson, Isaiah Crowell and Shaun Draughn rushed for 46 yards on 20 attempts for a whopping 2.3 yards per carry. To make matters worse is that none of these backs were our top two rushers for the game against the Jets.

Those top two spots are reserved for QBs Johnny Manziel (35 yards on 5 attempts) and Josh McCown (23 yards on 3 attempts) respectively.

Cleveland’s running game needs to improve Sunday. Even the New England Patriots with Tom Brady and the Green Bay Packers with Aaron Rodgers have decent running games to go along with their exceptional passing attacks. We can’t expect to have much of any success if the running game doesn’t step up ASAP.
