Browns vs Rams: TV Schedule, Injury Report, And More

facebooktwitterreddit

The Cleveland Browns are moving forward this week looking for a win. As they get to set to play their first NFC West opponent of the season, the urgency for the Browns to try to keep up the pace in the division is very high.

Opportunities were there for the Cleveland Browns to defeat the Denver Broncos in Week 6. Unfortunately, no such win occurred for the Browns. After big plays by LB Karlos Dansby and the level of play at which QB Josh McCown has been playing at, could either of them continue their individual success today?

For a win today, both will need to make plays, especially McCown.

Coming into this season not many people would have expected the run of success McCown has had. Due to the inconsistent play of the Browns’ defense, the game may fall on McCown’s shoulders again just like last week. Should that happen, hopefully a different end result occurs.

Cleveland’s opponent for this week, the St. Louis Rams, have been dealing with key injuries on defense. Look for Cleveland to take advantage of the situation.

Though their running game may continue to struggle today, the Browns need to figure out a way to implement a plan to balance out the offense ASAP with good results from the running game. At the same time getting one of their running backs to achieve the status of and play like a No. 1 RB should be the plan. Everything they have done up to this point has not work. Today is another chance to try improve upon in that area.

To achieve any success, especially until the majority of Cleveland’s offense starts picking up their level of play, McCown will need to have a good game against the Rams for a chance to win.

The Browns have a 2-4 record on the season. They are four games back of the Cincinnati Bengals who are undefeated with a 6-0 record. Cleveland is currently in third place in the AFC North division.

The focus with the Browns’ injury report should be on their offense, specifically with their TE position. TE Gary Barnidge injury status is probable (ankle). There should be no doubt Barnidge is going to play today.

The Browns need to continue to rely on his big play so hopefully the ankle injury does not impact him this afternoon. TE Rob Housler‘s injury status is out (hamstring). Since he is out, TE E.J. Bibbs deserves to be activated. Will he? That is not determined yet as no decision has been made.

St. Louis is not going to have LB Alec Ogletree and DE Chris Long. Even though WR Tavon Austin is listed as questionable, I fully expect to see Austin on the field for the Rams. The full injury report can be viewed here.

Weather Report: Since St. Louis plays in a dome without a retractable roof, the weather will not have an impact on today’s game.
