Cleveland Browns: Five Questions With Titan Sized
By Ryan Rosko
FanSided’s Titan Sized discussed with us tomorrow’s Week 6 game between the Tennessee Titans and the Cleveland Browns.
Week 6 could be the week that the Cleveland Browns stop their losing streak. However, the key word there is could. Based off of Cleveland’s 2016 games, their opponent this week, the Tennessee Titans is one that they could win.
Meanwhile, the Titans are 2-3 and are second in the AFC South division. Tennessee is a lot like Cleveland in terms of their rebuilding process. There are two key differences however. Those being that Tennessee has sped up their process and has hit more on their draft picks at key positions.
For Tennessee’s perspective, Titan Sized‘s Site Expert Will Lomas answered five questions regarding a number of different exciting topics.
Should fans expect to see rookie running back Derrick Henry get more carries soon? Or, is being the passing game back the most we will see from him in the foreseeable future?
WL: As a guy who has grown up watching SEC football, there are few things I want to see more than the Tennessee Titans getting Derrick Henry involved. However, I just don’t know how the can justify it. Henry has been great in short bursts for the team, but he is coming off of a year where he had to absolutely drag an Alabama team to the National Championship.

Likewise, DeMarco Murray looks every bit the player that the Philadelphia Eagles hoped they were getting two years ago. He has great vision and is a big part of the passing game. So, I don’t imagine Henry will get the ball more than 10 times barring an injury.
Quarterback Marcus Mariota appears to be improving as a signal-caller. What if anything needs to be done to help him out under center?
WL: Marcus Mariota was great in his rookie year, he exceeded every expectation. However, a new Head Coach and a new offense got him off to a slow start this year. Slowly he is starting to comprehend more and more of the playbook and he understands that he doesn’t have any wide receivers who will win with their athleticism alone.
If they can help him more, I would imagine that they let him go in the hurry up more. Last week he was 5-5 on a 2 minute drive where he ended up scoring with a minute still on the clock. That was in large part because of how well he orchestrated the offense on the fly when he was calling the plays.
Given Cleveland’s quarterback and offensive line situations, is there any reason not to expect Tennessee’s front seven to succeed? Is using wide receiver Terrelle Pryor in various ways the only way the Titans’ defense could struggle?
WL: It is going to be hard for the Browns, because Derrick Morgan is finally healthy after a hamstring injury. When he is on, this defense is great at getting to the quarterback. Brian Orakpo and Jurrell Casey are also huge factors in the front seven combining for 8 sacks between the last two.

As for Pryor, I would use him as a wide receiver because he has looked dominant at times there. If you move him to quarterback, who forces the Titans to respect the outside? With Perrish Cox and Jason McCourty both having two interceptions this year, I would imagine they would stack the box and make him throw it on them.
Browns defensive coordinator Ray Horton has experience with some of the Titans’ players. Do you see his experience in any way benefiting him and the Browns?
WL: He should know how important Jurrell Casey and Derrick Morgan are to this team’s defensive success. They aren’t huge names, but they do everything right against the run and the pass that opens things up for other people even if they aren’t making plays.
If I had to pick something out that he might try to abuse, it is the lack of deep speed on the outside. If the Browns can find a way to keep their QB upright for long enough they might be able to take some deep shots and gash this Titans team.
Side note, he may be able to tell the special teams coach that there is a good chance to make a play on a punt return. So, if they have anything up their sleeves this is the game to do it.
What will determine this week’s Cleveland Browns/Tennessee Titans game?
WL: An under the radar answer may be the right side of the offensive lines. If the Titans see a weakness they will force you to address it or they will attack relentlessly.
Likewise, Ray Horton may look to get aggressive against a rookie no matter how well Jack Conklin has been doing. If the Titans don’t start off strong then this could come down to a battle of the defensive coordinators.
