Cleveland Browns: Yet Another Second Half Collapse

Strong suggestions were made by the Voice of the Fan after the Cleveland Browns failed to win a game once again.

It didn’t take long to see the disorganization of the Cleveland Browns tonight. They had to use their first time out before the first play from scrimmage as too many men were on the field on defense!

Following that blunder, Cleveland then had to use their second timeout on the first offensive series. The Browns seemed disoriented and not sure of the play calls on both sides of the ball.

A very bad penalty call by the officials helped Baltimore, but the defense held thanks to a sack by Jamie Collins. They called ruffling the passer on Emmanuel Ogbah but not grounding on Joe Flacco!

After an interception by Briean Boddy-Calhoun at the Browns’ one and subsequent punt, the Ravens kick a field goal to go up 3-0. Following a couple of receptions by Terrelle Pryor and an interference call on the Ravens, Cody Kessler throws a touchdown to Seth DeValve. The touchdown gave the Browns a 7-3 in the second quarter.

My suggestion to Paul Depodesta and Sashi Brown is to sign Collins. He’s making about every third tackle and is the only one who looks like he has a clue as to what’s going on! He and Christian Kirksey works very well together!

Baltimore used their time outs following short passes before kicking a field goal prior to the half making it 7-6 Browns. Now the question remains, which team takes the field in the second half? The one that’s in meltdown as we’ve seen in the previous games or the one that played the first half!

Even after the Ravens scored a go ahead touchdown after the lackluster Browns’ offense failed to do much, even with Josh McCown showed a lack of passion and fire from Cleveland. Luckily Joe Haden intercepted Flacco in the Browns’ end zone.

Cleveland’s offensive line is falling apart, missed blocks and did not pick up blitzes. They don’t give the defense even a chance to rest as the receivers can’t get off man coverage.

Cleveland just is not very good! Very little execution on either side of the ball by the Browns was evident. Yet the Browns corners are missing tackles in coverage. So what else is new? Baltmore’s wide receivers were wide open, some uncovered completely. It’s starting to get ugly again!

Ravens scored on a pass to Steve Smith, which forced the Browns to look like the Browns of the past four or five games. The second half collapse was in effect as the Ravens were up 21-7 and counting.

Cleveland had no answer and the second half continued to be disastrous time and time again! Their coaches are clueless and I see linemen looking at each other as if they are utterly confused about their assignments.

Come on it’s the 10th game and they don’t know what to do? This problem must be corrected and it’s not happening! There are no more rookies on any team this late in the season. This is becoming utterly unforgivable!

More from Factory of Sadness

Even when the Browns hold they can’t stop the rush. I’m seeing complete capitulation in the Browns. Their attitude and their body language said they were lost as they played out the final quarter.

It is sad, really sad, and it’s on the players and most of all the coaches! Cleveland has stopped believing in head coach Hue Jackson! The empty seats will grow in First Energy Stadium.

These refs are so inconsistent it’s plain to see! One call for one side yet an entirely different one for the other. Even Joe Thomas is starting to look bad. Can you say 0-16; It’s not much of a mystery anymore.

Next: Kessler Is Not The Future

We did learn one thing: Cleveland better draft a quarterback high next year, since the answer is not on the roster. The Ravens came away with the win tonight 28-7. Again there were no points in the second half and that is not acceptable.
