Consistency is one of many positive words associated with Cleveland Browns left tackle Joe Thomas. His most recent accomplishment says it all.

I don’t have to express how tough it is watching the Cleveland Browns this season. We all know about how frustrating they have been. Still, there is one bright spot fans can rely on and that’s Joe Thomas.

Tonight, Thomas was named to his 10th consecutive Pro Bowl! It takes a special player to accomplish such a feat. In addition, playing for a team like Cleveland makes this reward that much more special given their lack of success.

Cleveland’s left tackle was named as a starter in this year’s Pro Bowl. Although Thomas is the only Browns player on the AFC’s roster, that may not remain the case. Very surprisingly, cornerback Joe Haden was named as a Pro Bowl Alternate for the AFC.

Thomas is a cornerstone player for the Browns and one day will be part of the NFL’s Pro Football Hall of Fame. It is amazing to think that more talented players like Thomas are not on Cleveland’s roster.

Just think of all the line combinations Thomas has had to work with over his career and the numerous quarterbacks he has had to protect. Of course there has been random groupings he has to work with, but with a lack of progress, what else would one expect?

The great thing in finding out that Thomas made his 10th consecutive Pro Bowl is that his achievements are something Browns can actually be glad to see. Not to mention, Thomas was given this award with a spotless record again via his playing time. Thomas still has yet to miss a snap in the NFL.

That’s not to say Thomas has not been injured or banged up. There’s no doubt he has.

That said, he won’t admit this, but if he knows the Browns cannot afford him to miss time. If Thomas were to miss time, Cleveland’s offensive line would be in an even worst state (hard to imagine, but true).

Thomas’ loyalty, dedication, and play is exactly what teams look for out of left tackles. He is the definition of an elite left tackle. Can you imagine not being part of the Browns? Thankfully, we don’t have to go down that road. Not trading down 10 years ago was the right move. Cleveland to keep that in mind come April when they have top talent available to them.

Even though it will be some time before Cleveland becomes a contender, Thomas wants to remain with the team. Thomas could easily be playing for a Super Bowl contender right now, but instead he wants to help his team build for the future.

Such a reaction is all there is to know about Thomas and that is just one reason why he is a favorite in Cleveland. Thomas is very deserving of being named to the Pro Bowl again and hopefully the run continues into the future!
