There is plenty to discuss during the Cleveland Browns 2018 preseason games.

Before we know it games will be played again at FirstEnergy Stadium. While it seems like it will take forever to get here, with how much the Cleveland Browns are in the news, it won’t feel that way for long.

From the draft and OTAs to training camp, there will be plenty going on in NE Ohio.

While we wait, a couple of exciting news topics regarding the Browns was released today.

Cleveland announced their 2018 preseason schedule and the new team calling the games on News 5.

Cleveland faced the New York Giants at home last year and now they return the favor. Plenty of intrigue surrounds what the Giants are going to do with the second overall pick and whether or not that could lead to them trading up with the Browns.

Many fans want Penn State running back Saquon Barkley. If New York took him instead, seeing how fans react in-person with Barkley running at the Browns instead of for them could change their opinion of him quickly.

Cleveland also gets to face former head coach Pat Shurmur. Whether it is draft or coaching staff related, there will be headlines. One hypothetical I am hoping for is how Cleveland’s rookie QB does compare to New York’s.

Another team that could have draft related storylines impact the Browns is the Buffalo Bills. Buffalo needs a quarterback but they likely will have to trade up for one. Will they trade whatever is needed to Cleveland to acquire their fourth overall pick? Perhaps. That will be known in just over two weeks.

Regardless, plan to see some Browns fans who were hoping for a specific quarterback to play against Cleveland. The first two weeks will be the most we see whichever quarterback is drafted as the last two preps Tyrod Taylor more for full-game mode.

The Browns lone national TV game will be during the third preseason week versus the defending champs Philadelphia Eagles. Are we going to see Carson Wentz play? How many times is Wentz’s name going to be brought up? While a Super Bowl isn’t happening in 2018, explaining the Eagles’ route from going from a bad team to winning it all and how that could be Cleveland would be something else worth hearing.

Lastly, Cleveland finishes off versus the Detroit Lions. Cleveland and Detroit have been matched up against each other many times over the years. There’s no surprise seeing them back on the schedule. Depending on the quarterback that is selected, analyzing and comparing that player’s skill set to Lions’ Matthew Stafford would be a great conversation to hear.

The duo calling the Browns game is Jay Crawford and Tim Couch. Crawford used to work at ESPN and is a well-known Browns fan. Meanwhile, Couch comes back to Cleveland after being the quarterback the franchise selected following their return in 1999. Two people with Browns background is great for the telecasts. Hopefully, the Crawford/Couch duo is not just a one-year agreement.
