The Cleveland Browns could be looking at a trap game with Washington

The Washington Football team might be the worst offense in the league.

The Cleveland Browns on paper look like a juggernaut waiting to get its feet going, offensively speaking, of course. Defensively, this team is a mess. If the Browns that showed up against the Cincinnati Bengals show up against the Washington Football Team, then the Browns could have a field day that both Browns fans and fantasy football enthusiasts will like. While the Washington Football Team’s defense is at worst middle of the road, their offense is dead last.

As a Browns fan who has seen Browns teams in the past have really good defenses but no offense, that type of awareness can become a mental hurdle that’s too hard to overcome. The Browns can run the ball up the gut of Washington and wear down the defense, forcing the offense to then respond. When they can’t, the team gets into a hole, and the defense becomes less impressive with each passing drive. It’s good ol’ fashion ground-and-pound.

The Washington Football Team’s biggest problem is their garbage offense. The Washington Football team is 31st in the league in total yards. Starting quarterback Drew Haskins is 32nd in yards per reception, and he’s tied for 3rd in the league in sacks taken. If your passing game is that bad, you’d run the ball, right? Except, their rushing game currently ranks 23rd overall in the league.

With no feature tight end, running back, or wide receiver to speak of this is a toothless offense.

On paper, this looks like an easy 27-13 win easily for the Browns. Yet, this is where the idea of a trap-game comes into play. The Browns defense is easily the worst in the league. You don’t need stats, or rankings to tell you otherwise. It’s bad. Even stars like Myles Garrett and Denzel Wards aren’t guaranteed to make impactful plays ever week.

While the Browns got torched by the Baltimore Ravens, no shame there, they also got torched by the Bengals. Let’s be honest, had the Browns offense not been near perfect all game, Cleveland would’ve lost because they couldn’t stop the Bengals offense. The Bengals offense with no offensive line and a rookie quarterback, mind you.

So when looking at the Washington Football Team, the only thing that anyone should see when looking at their offense is Admiral Akbar’s big fishy head screaming “IT’S A TRAP!”, because that’s exactly what this game is for the Browns. There’s every chance Haskins looks like Peyton Manning back there, carving up the Browns defense, making them look foolish. He could throw 400 yards on this team. That’s how bad the Browns defense is, that the worst starter in the league could put up Pro Bowl stats against them.

To be fair, the inverse is also true. The Redskins offense has been so bad that the Browns may look like the ’85 Bears out there, running around and destroying the Washington Football Team’s putrid offense even further.

For the Browns, they have to avoid being caught in a trap. They can’t afford to underestimate the Washington Football Team if they hope to go to 2-1 on the season. Treat them like they’re the Ravens and give them the proper respect.

Next. Despite a solid game by Myles Garrett, he has to do more for the Browns. dark
