The Bad

The secondary

Frankly, the safeties have played better but that’s like saying bread and water is better than starving. Sure, but it’s still not desirable. The biggest problems have been the other cornerbacks, mostly Kevin Johnson and Terrence Mitchell. They’re almost always getting picked on whenever they’re on the field and for good reasoning. It’s part of the reason why the safeties are constantly coming from out of nowhere because the corners blew their assignments. The Browns need to go get a second starter opposite Ward.

The linebackers

The whole lot of them are awful. None of them can tackle, none of them can cover, none of them can blitz. So many fans constantly bemoaned “OH I LIKE JOE SCHOBERT BUT NOT AT THAT PRICE”. That’s the price of a Pro Bowl linebacker folks. The Browns linebackers are the biggest joke in the NFL. The whole lot should be considered on the bubble for the offseason. They gave up big running plays, and so passing over the middle it’s ridiculous. The Browns need to invest some money in upgrades right away. This team won’t win a playoff game with these three starting.

Odell Beckham

This one is a twofer. On one hand, Odell Beckham‘s on the list because of his injury and how it happened. Leaping for a tackle? Yikes. Beckham tore his ACL on that play and is done for the year. After three years of injury-plagued play, it seems Beckham is just that player now. The second reason Beckham is on this list is how the team played without him. With Jarvis Landry’s hip, Wyatt Teller still being out, and Nick Chubb still hurt, Mayfield single-handily carried this team to a win. Sure the receivers had some big plays, but that’s in part to Mayfield’s percession passing. With regards to Beckham, in both Cleveland and New York his attitude has always been a disruption according to those who’ve worked with him. Mayfield hasn’t been consistent since Beckham joined the Browns. If Mayfield continues to roasts teams to close out 2020, talented or not, it’d be time to shuttle Beckham off to somewhere else.
