Cavs Top 3: Taurean Prince leads Cleveland to 20th win
By Chad Porto
The Cavs have finally hit their 20th win of the year, knocking off the Charlotte Hornets 103-90. The Cavaliers saw a huge influx of talent, as Larry Nance Jr. (illness), Jarrett Allen (concussion), and Darius Garland (ankle) all returned to the lineup to take on a Charlotte squad that was without Gordon Hayward and LaMelo Ball.
Allen put up 15 points and eight rebounds in his return, while Garland had 17 points and seven assists. Nance had the most difficult night of all the returning players, going 1-7, with five points, two rebounds, and four assists.
Quizzically, Cedi Osman, Matthew Dellavedova, and Isaiah Hartenstein didn’t play much in the second half, despite playing very well in the first two quarters. This is just Osman’s second game back after being benched due to his poor performance.
Prince though was on fire all game, going 9-13 from the floor and 6-8 from the three, with 25 points. He was unguardable all game and made the Hornets pay for leaving him open.
Top 3 Game Performers
1 Point – Darius Garland
Darius Garland had a solid outing, though he definitely got a bit tired in the second half, with his production slipping a bit. Garland is improving bit by bit but his defense still remains something to be desired.
2 Points – Kevin Love
Kevin Love continues to show what he can do as he returns to form. After passing Mark Price for most three-pointers made in Cavaliers history, Love showed up and shot 6-12 from the floor, 2-5 from three for 17 points, and 11 rebounds with four additional assists. Love, fully healthy, is making this offense dynamic in ways it hasn’t been all year.
3 Points – Taurean Prince
You can’t deny that Taurean Prince was the absolute beast of the game. His three-point shot was falling all night, he played solid defense against the Hornets’ wings and even contributed with rebounds and assists.
