Indians: Listen to Tom Hamilton call Amed Rosario’s walk-off

The Indians had an exciting win over the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday afternoon.

The Indians are sitting comfortably at 20-14, with only 0.5 games back of the Chicago White Sox, and tied for the seventh-best record in the Majors, sitting only two wins back of the Red Sox, A’s, Carnivals, and Giants. All things considered, the Tribe are right where they need to be.

So entering the day on Wednesday, the Tribe sat at 19-14 and went into the tenth-inning tied one-run for both the Tribe and Cubs. The Tribe had bases loaded, with Josh Naylor on third, Jordan Luplow on second, and Harold Ramirez at first.

Coming to the plate, Amed Rosario, who was 3-4 on the day heading into the 10th inning. With no outs, and an even count of one ball and one strike, Rosario took aim on a pitch high-and-away, and it right into the right-field gap near the line.

Granted, explaining what happened is only about 100th as cool as listening to legendary Indians announcer Tom Hamilton call it as it’s happening in real-time. The Indians win the game 2-1 and sweep the Cubs in their two-game series.

Going 4-5 at the plate, and then hitting a walk-off shot to the right-field line is nothing but an awesome game. Rosario upped his average to .221 on the season, but his OBP is still pretty bad, sitting at just .288. That’s why today was so important, a good game can create confidence and confidence can make a hitter better.

Baseball may be more mental than many other sports, and so much of it is confidence and guesswork. Going 4-5 in a Major League game, while putting up two RBI’s, one of which ends the game is always a strong outing and is certainly a confidence booster.

While the team’s batting averages are bad they are getting on base, which is the important part. If they can continue to copple together winning stretches as they’ve been on (8-2 in their last 10), then the Indians will be the team to beat in the AL Central soon enough
