Cleveland Browns: Sorting out bottom of 2021 roster tougher than usual
1. Will Cleveland Browns keep nine offensive linemen?
The offensive line was a big concern at the end of last season, as Baker Mayfield was meeting linemen in the locker room ahead of playoff games. It wasn’t a talent issue, rather, injuries ravaged Cleveland’s trenches during the most important time of the season.
With the starters known, our eyes naturally turn to depth, and the question has to be asked: Will the Brown really keep nine offensive linemen?
With five starters, the top backups have to include Chris Hubbard, draft pick James Hudson and Nick Harris? As our own Chad Porto pointed out, keeping Harris isn’t ideal, but as a 2020 draft pick, you could see Cleveland giving him more time.
So, there’s your eight linemen. That leaves Blake Hance and Michael Dunn exposed to waivers. Heck. It also means the end of the line for Prospect X, Drew Forbes.
Ideally, the Brown would get some of these players to the practice squad, but there’s 31 other teams looking to improve their offensive line, and any three of those names I just mentioned would be worth a look at.
