Cleveland Browns: Mrs. Baker Mayfield’s latest Instagram post is a team divider
The wife of Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield, Emily Mayfield, has never been shy about sticking up for her husband.
She usually doesn’t mince words, either. Standing by her man? Yep, Tammy Wynette would approve.
However, her latest post, which she shared from a fan, raises a ton of questions and raises some big red flags concerning the vibes inside the Browns’ locker room.
By re-posting, Emily is trumpeting the toughness of her husband, while questioning the toughness of everyone one else on the team.
The post appeared on her Instagram “story.” I found it on Twitter, posted below. Emily has since deleted the post, according to Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabbot.
Oh, we’ll definitely beat the Ravens now. Look, as a resident of screen-door proud Anytown, USA, there’s many things in this world I don’t understand. Instagram stories are one. Why not just make it a post? My daughter tells me it’s the cool thing to do.
Wife of Cleveland Browns Baker Mayfield creates huge distraction
Anyway, Mrs. Mayfield’s comments are sure to be fodder for the remainder of the week, especially because they coincide with Mr. Mayfield being booed at home. Plus, there are stories floating around about Mayfield walking off the field looking all salty, not slapping five’s with fans and declining to do a post-game presser, after a win, no less.
Hope the Browns like a distraction, because they’ve got one now.
Emily’s re-post Astems back to Odell Beckham Jr.’s release, as a Camp Baker vs. Camp OBJ seemed to arise. Beckham was beloved in the locker room. Yet, even after his dad re-posted something disrespecting Baker and the lame #FreeOBJ movement started, guys had his back.
Rashard Higgins, a guy who owes his career to Baker, didn’t even have the quarterback’s back like you thought he would.
From what reporters were saying, during local interviews, there seemed to be a Baker vs. OBJ vibe was real–at least when it came to picking sides. .
We’ll see if more comes out on this during the week. The media isn’t permitted in the locker room anymore because of COVID, so there’s no good way to get a good feeling to what’s really going on.
That said, Mrs. Mayfield’s post certainly is based on some feeling she has in which she agreed that her husband’s teammates aren’t playing up to his standards.
