Browns falling closer to quarterbacks in intriguing 2022 mock draft

The Browns are all over the place this season when it comes to their record. In what’s been a crazy NFL season, Cleveland can still win the division, or there’s even a scenario where they end up with the 10th pick in the draft.

As of now, the Browns would be picking 13th, which certainly makes the 2022 a lot more interesting in terms of the franchise finding a big impact player.

Pro Football Focus released its draft and  the analytically oriented site at the team taking Ohio State receiver Garrett Wilson in the first round.

Interestingly, while 2021 gets cracked for not being a great quarterback class, PFF has a few quarterbacks falling off the board right around where the Browns pick.

At No. 8, Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corrall is tapped for the Washington Football Team, while Pitt field general Kenny Pickett gets sent to Atlanta, where it is written he’d back up Matt Ryan for a season.

At No. 12, Liberty quarterback Malik Willis is predicted to go to the Vikings. The Steelers find their successor to Big Ben in North Carolina’s Sam Howell.

All of this does is cause debate around current Browns quarterback, Baker Mayfield, who is in a strange spot. He’s been widely inconsistent (and injured) this season, but with two wins, he could have the Browns back in the playoffs.

One more loss and everyone’s going to be looking for his replacement.

If I had to guess, I think Mayfield comes back in 2022, as the Browns have already picked up his fifth-year option. He really has no elite receiving threat. Let’s give him. Wilson and see how he does.

The Browns can always franchise tag Mayfield if the former No. 1 overall pick finally figures “it” out.

Next. Not enough being made over tweet aimed at Stefanski. dark

For what it’s worth, I’d like to see the Browns draft a quarterback in the third or fourth round, as someone they can develop. You can still find a quarterback with tools there. When you start looking in the sixth and seventh rounds, it’s slim pickings.
