The Warriors are going back to the Finals with former Cavs’ No. 1 overall pick Andrew Wiggins, but Cleveland has “kicked” the idea of trading for the Kansas product who never played a regular-season game for the Wine & Gold.

Cleveland.com’s Chris Fedor appeared on the Hoops Hype podcast and revealed the Cavs’ interest, via Hoopswire.

"“…This is the one I”m watching. I think it’s less likely than it was when the postseason started, but it’s one that I’ve heard kicked around inside the walls of Cleveland. It’s Andrew Wiggins of the Warriors,” Fedor said."

The Cavs are starving for wing help and Fedor threw out names of some other players who could be available. Those players include both Bojan Bogdanovic and Bogdan Bogdanovic, Gordan Hayward, Tobias, Harris, Harrison Barnes, Gary Trent Jr. Jerami Grant and Aaron Gordon.

Wiggins will be in the final year of his contract next season and he’s due to earn $33.6 million. The Cavs have to make the money match, so naturally, Kevin Love’s name will be tied to this deal. Love is due $28.9 million in the final year of his contract.

Something else to keep in the back of your mind: The Warriors were rumored to be interested in Collin Sexton. Is there potential for a sign-and-trade? I doubt it, as Golden State was hesitant to trade for Sexton last year because of his looming extension.

Fun to think about because Wiggins solves a major problem for the Cavs, but the big letdown here comes from Fedor’s statement about this deal being less likely than it was two months ago.

The Warriors are back in the Finals, and while Wiggins isn’t the superstar some forecasted when he came out of Kansas, he’s an excellent player who averaged 17.2 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.2 assists, while shooting 37.5 percent from 3-point range this past season. Plus, he’s an asset defensively. He’d be the perfect complement to Evan Mobley and Darius Garland.

If Golden Stae wins it all, and it looks like they might, why not run it back with someone who plays the league’s premier position?

As for Love, I’m not sure the Cavs will actively shop him. I mean, he’s available and everyone probably knows it, but if he comes back for one more year, the Cavs would be fine keeping him, according to Fedor.

That said, his expiring contract could open up the door for a major trade, if not for Wiggins ,then for someone else.
