Porter Gustin (signed with Dolphins)

Having just confirmed the deal today, Porter Gustin is not returning to the Cleveland Browns for 2022. The former USC defensive end was one of the Browns’ better run-stoppers from the edge and was a viable option to play when guys got hurt. He was never a pass-rushing beast but he always was able to seal the edge and limit forward motion by runners.

With the Dolphins, he’ll likely work his way into their defensive line rotation, and be able to give them some serious depth. By no means is he a Pro Bowler or an All-Pro guy, at least not that we’ve seen so far, so this isn’t a huge loss in terms of talent (not like an M.J. Stewart), but he was a good energy guy who was able to do his part in the grander scheme of things.

Gustin was a solid hand and the hope is that the Browns can replace him with someone else that they’re eying on the market. Maybe someone else on the practice squad can be given a shot to replace the grinder that Gustin was.

He’ll never go down as a franchise legend but he stepped up when the team was in a spot.
