The Cleveland Browns still have holes and we may have the plugs for them.

The Cleveland Browns still have some holes on their team as they head into July. That’s not unexpected, as so much of the team is a young talent that needs to be coached, tested, and given a chance to succeed or fail. As we saw in Cinncinati last year with Ja’Marr Chase, pre-season showings are not a barometer to determine future success.

They may be a hint of things to come, but until you test them, truly test them, you don’t know what you have.

So when the Browns decide on who to keep and who to cut, that’s when you could see some trade targets arriving in Cleveland. USA Today’s Browns Wire posted a list of 17 potential trade targets and some of them are good but if we’re being honest, we only found three that were good additions to the team.

That’s who we’re going to talk about today. Each of these guys is on expiring contracts for what it’s worth. The value given up is not going to be talked about, but it should be assumed that smart trades would need to happen to get these guys.

Three players the Cleveland Browns should sign from Browns Wire’s list of 17

WR Marvin Jones

At 32 years old, you’re not getting Marvin Jones as a long-term option, so re-signing him isn’t wise but six of his last seven seasons saw him hit 800 yards (or 21 yards short) every year. He’s a solid, viable two/three option on any team. He won’t break the backs of defenses but if the Browns’ young receivers can’t cut it, then he’s a good option.

DT Dalvin Tomlinson

Dalvin Tomilson is a gap-stuffer and a very good force against the run. He won’t put a lot of pressure on quarterbacks but he’ll be a solid anchor tackle if you’re trying to improve a suspect run defense. With such a young crop of tackles, he might be an option to fortify the unit.

WR Darius Slayton

Poor play, injuries, and inconsistency in getting reps seems to have slowed Darius Slayton. He still has the possibility of showing his talents but he’s someone that may be able to provide a solid punch in the passing game should the current crop of young guys fail to impress.
