Derrick Favors

Now we’re getting into the names that aren’t being discussed as buyout options but very easily could be if no trades are found. Derrick Favors makes the most sense as a player who fits the Cavaliers’ scheme really well. Right now, as with Danilo Gallinari, there isn’t any space for the forward should he get bought out but there very easily could be.

The Cavs are constantly having discussions over the likes of Collin Sexton, Caris LeVert, and others, and should a trade end up happening that involves a forward or too like Lauri Markkanen or Lamar Stevens, then not only does Favors become a player of need, but he becomes a great option to fill in for the Cavs.

Especially if it’s a guy like Stevens, as Favors is basically the same style of a player as Stevens but better.

He’s not going to be a big imposing scorer and he doesn’t have the versatility as a Markkanen, but Favors in a scheme that prioritizes defense can be a real beast of a player. JB Bickerstaff’s defense would be the perfect fit for Favors.

So if he gets bought out and the Cavs have a need for him after a trade, then this would be the perfect pairing.
