The Cleveland Browns had some high and low moments from the preseason game vs. the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Cleveland Browns and Jacksonville Jaguars squared off on Friday evening in what was the Browns’ first and the Jaguars’ second preseason game of the season. The Browns came into the game with some high expectations and the Jaguars were hoping to show their young squad was coming together.

The Browns won 24-13 but as it’s the preseason, the score isn’t as important as the performances.

Both teams were looking for something different, the teams both featured former Clemson quarterbacks leading their respective offenses, with Trevor Lawerence leading the Jags, and disgraced quarterback Deshaun Watson leading the Browns.

The teams may have had starters from the same school, but they did not perform the same, with Lawerence out-performing Watson throughout the first three series, with Lawerence throwing a touchdown. The first quarter was rough for the Browns’ offense, and Watson’s play didn’t help that.

Yet, they were able to rebound behind backup Joshua Dobbs, who lead the team on three scoring drives. Dobbs, who filled in for Jacoby Brissett, made an indelible mark on the team, showing everyone what he was capable of. With Brissett’s struggles, there will now be a real conversation around Dobb’s viability as the team’s backup.

With Watson’s suspension looming, the Browns need to use the rest of the preseason to figure out who the starter for the team is going to be while Watson is out. Brissett needs to prove he’s capable of leading this team and right now, reports are that he’s not looking great in practice. So Dobbs’ performance on Friday really put pressure on the team.
