The Chicago White Sox are four games back of the Cleveland Guardians and talking trash like they weren’t just in third place.

The Cleveland Guardians are taking on the Chicago White Sox as this piece is being written. The Sox are currently four games back of Guardians, who are in first place in the American League Central Division and are 11 games over .500.

Not only that, but the White Sox are not doing well against the Guardians. The Guards are up 9-6 on the White Sox in the season series, and a win on Monday wins the season series for the Guardians. In winning, the Guars will make it impossible for the White Sox to get a play-in game against the Guardians should the two teams finish the year with the same record.

Making matters worse for the Chicago White Sox is the fact they haven’t won a single series against the Guardians all year.

So to say the Guardians have spanked The Sox pretty soundly is an understatement. So, when Elvis Andrus decided to talk some junk about the Guardians, you better believe some eyes rolled pretty hard.

Andrus told local media in Chicago (via Darl Van Schouwen on Twitter), that the Guardians are going to “crumble” as they play the White Sox. No one tells Andrus that the Guardians have a winning record against the Chi-Sox and have not lost a series against them all year.

That would be embarrassing for him to have to find out.

The Cleveland Guardians have the advantage but they have to still play hard

The Cleveland Guardians are not in a place where they can take their foot off the throttle, so to speak, as we enter the last few weeks of the regular season. The Guardians are four up on the Sox, and five up on the Twins. Yet, they still have four against the Sox and five against the Twins, so one very bad series against either make the AL Central race so much more competitive than anyone in Cleveland wants it to be.

The Guardians have to continue to execute and if they do, they should be able to get the AL Central title and start their march towards October.

Next. The Cleveland Guardians have a Cy Young contender but it’s not who you think. dark
