3 Boston Celtics the Cleveland Cavaliers have to account for on Wednesday
By Chad Porto
The Cleveland Cavaliers have got to account for these three Boston Celtic players come Wednesday.
The Cleveland Cavaliers are riding high at 5-1 but the boys in wine and gold have a long season to go and tough outs in front of them. While the team is a Top 5 team in the entire NBA currently, and that’s without Darius Garland, the Cavs have to deal with the fact that teams like the Boston Celtics aren’t just going to roll over because of one loss to Cleveland.
The Celtics are truly a two-man team with Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown leading the way. Malcon Brodgan is the only player, besides Tatum and Brown, who is averaging 10.0 points or more on the season. This is a team that lacks depth, but their top stars are truly the top of the sport.
They need their role players to step up and deliver because Tatum and Brown cannot carry this team on their own all year long. Nor should they have to. They need other guys to step up. So what players do the Cavs have to game plan for besides Tatum and Brown?
Three Boston Celtic players to gameplan for besides Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown
Malcolm Brogdon
I would put Marcus Smart on the list, but the Cavs dropped 82 on Smart and whoever else he was partnered with in their last matchup. He’s not the defensive threat he’s been made out to be. Malcolm Brogdon doesn’t do any one thing as well as Smart plays defense, but he’s all-around a better player and is the only real other option the Celtics have to drop points if needed.
Sam Hauser
Sam Hauser is a dagger. This may not make sense but let me explain. You’re in a sword fight with a knight and you’re going whole ham hock on him, you get in close, you’re overpowering him, and everything is going your way. Then you get stabbed by a dagger between your ribs. It’s unexpected, and not all that intimidating but if you’re not prepared for it, can hurt all the same. That’s Hauser. His three-point shooting makes him a threat at any given point and if the Celtics feed him more often, he could do far more harm to opposing teams. Especially the Cavs, who are a tad weak on the outside
Derrick White
Derrick White is versatile, a solid shooter, and relentless in all aspects of the game. He may not be the biggest name on the list but he’s someone the Cavs have to account for, or he will hurt the team.
