Cavs Top 3: Shooting woes hit pathetic levels for the Cleveland Cavaliers
By Chad Porto
The Cleveland Cavaliers were abysmal against the Toronto Raptors on Monday night.
Inconsistency is the Cleveland Cavaliers’ greatest issue at the moment. Some nights the team looks unbeatable, other nights you wonder if the team is actually filled with NBA-caliber players. That was the case for the matchup with the Toronto Raptors on Monday. The team shot just 38% from the floor and 18% from three. It was a truly horrific outing.
Kudos go to the Raptors’ defense, who really smothered the Cavs all night. They forced the Cavs to really work for every bucket they got and even for a few they didn’t get a chance to get. The Raptors’ very own Scottie Barnes, who didn’t even start, was a defensive nightmare all game long and wracked up three blocks on the Cavs.
His presence was felt consistently as the team only had two players hit double-digits and Donovan Mitchell had the worst game of his Cavaliers career by far. Yes, the team didn’t have Jarrett Allen or Kevin Love but with the talent and depth on this team that’s really not an excuse.
It didn’t help that Caris LeVert returned to action and looked awful as well. This was just an Etch A Sketch game when it comes down to it. Once you’re done, shake it clear and start again.
The Cavs fell to the Raptors 100-88, and will play the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday.
