The Cleveland Cavaliers handled their business against the Indiana Pacers, thanks partly to Isaac Okoro.

The Cleveland Cavaliers quickly dispatched the Indiana Pacers on Sunday evening, defeating them 122-103 behind a combined from Isaac Okoro and Darius Garland. Garland did his usual work, dropping 24 points and demolishing the Pacers’ perimeter defense, but it was the combined efforts of Okoro that put the team over the top.

Okoro went 7-9 from the floor, and 3-4 from three, for a season-high 20 points. It was one of Okor’s best outings of not only the season but his career as the young forward from Auburn has struggled to find his shot in the first two years of his career. While starting off slow in year three, he’s come-ons strong in the last few months.

In January alone he shot 53% from the floor and nearly 47% from three, among the best figures of his career over a month. He’s not becoming Steph Curry by any means but he’s being far more effective at getting to spots on the court he’s comfortable with and taking a shot. Plus, the Cavs’ defense allows him to score in transition, which is where he excels offensively.

Jarrett Allen had a tough task all night, as he and Even Mobley had to focus on Myles Turner, who put up 27 points of his own, but Turner couldn’t stop Allen, who pulled down a double-double on Turner. Allen wasn’t just tested by Turner, but by a Pacers offense that got in close all game due to their three-pointers not falling. Allen was able to limit guys like Tyrese Haliburton and Benedict Mathurin, who both took a lot of shots in and around the paint.

All in all, this was a win the Cavs needed, especially since it was on the road. The Cavs have struggled on the road this season, so two back-to-back wins are not a bad thing at all.
