Cavs Top 3: Jarrett Allen goes full Hulk-mode and smashes the Detroit Pistons
By Chad Porto
The Cleveland Cavaliers smashed the Detroit Pistons thanks to Jarrett Allen activating Hulk-Mode.
The Cleveland Cavaliers were without Darius Garland and Donovan Mitchell on Wednesday night as the Cavs too on the Detroit Pistons and you wouldn’t have known it by the way the team played. Raul Neto and Caris LeVert filled in for the guards, and Neto had a great night.
He shot nearly 50% from the floor and had four steals on top of eight assists. Unsurprisingly, he put up a box plus-minus of +23 which lead the team. It’s only one game, but Neto has shown before he can play well if called upon, which makes the decision to not trade LeVert at the deadline all the more baffling.
While Neto had a great night, Jarrett Allen showed impressive dominance over the Pistons, who despite starting two centers, couldn’t do anything to slow down Allen. On his own, Allen had half of the Pistons’ total rebounds on the night with 16 and when he and Evan Mobley were on the court together in the first half, made the game look like a blowout.
The Cavs got away from attacking the paint, a comment that was made more than once on commentary, and due to that the Pistons were able to get back within three, but the Cavs were able to fend off the Pistons and open it up to a route in the fourth quarter, winning it 113-85.
The Cavs are now 35-22, having won four in a row, and are 7-3 in their last 10, while sitting at 4th in the Eastern Conference and only five games back from the first-place Boston Celtics and 3.5 games back of the Central-leading Milwaukee Bucks.
