Cavs Top 3: Cavaliers break skid with strong showing against the Raptors

The Cleveland Cavaliers finally broke their losing streak of three games by defeating the Toronto Raptors. In doing so, the Cavaliers snapped the Raptors’ four-game winning streak. That mini streak has gotten them close to .500 again, and back into the playoff chase.
The Raptors were without Fred Van Fleet and the Cavs took full advantage of that fact and attacked Gary Trent Jr. all night on both sides of the ball. He couldn’t stop either of the Cavs’ starting guards nor could he defend them. The lack of help defense allowed the Cavs to attack
Jakob Poeltl and Pascal Siakam all night with Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley.
When the Cavs weren’t collapsing the Raptors’ interior defense, they were reigning threes. The team shot 50% from three, hitting 18 of 36. Donovan Mitchell led the way, going 8-12 from three alone, while Darius Garland hit 3-4.
The win came at a huge point for the Cavs, who have no bench scoring to speak of, and was in the midst of a three-game skid. The Cavs sit in fourth and are 1.5 games back of the Philadelphia 76ers for third place in the East. The Raptors are currently 9th and surging.
