SP Tanner Bibee

The Guardians starting pitching hasn’t been great. While it’s only been two or three games for most of the starters, Hunter Gaddis (8.53), Cal Quantrill (6.52), and Zach Plesac (9.00) have all struggled to keep guys off the basepaths, and off of home plate. Realistically, this shouldn’t be a problem in a few weeks. Gaddis will eventually find his way back to the minors when Triston McKenzie returns and I have full faith that Quantrill will rebound in time. Plesac, well, he might be trade bait sooner rather than later.

Not to mention, Aaron Civale is injured, and Peyton Battenfield didn’t look shabby in Civale’s stead.

Yet, whether it’s Plesac’s eventual trade, McKenzie not being ready or some other event, it seems very likely we could end up seeing Tanner Bibee sooner rather than later. Bibee has only been with the Guardians organization officially for less than a year and a half and has already gone from Single-A Lake County to Double-A Akron and just made his first start with Triple-A Columbus.

In just his first start, which was kept to just five innings, he threw seven strikeouts, gave up four hits, one walk, and no runs. There’s a reason why many consider him the best pitching prospect the Guardians have and he’s on his way to the pros this year, if things keep going at the rate they are.
