Siaki Ika joins the Cleveland Browns as the third-round comes to a close

The Cleveland Browns have selected Siaki Ika out of Baylor.

With the 98th pick in the 3rd round, of the 2023 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns have selected defensive tackle Siaki Ika out of Baylor. Ika is a 22-year-old who stands in at 6’4 and weighs in at a whopping 350 lbs. His arrival will make him the heaviest player on the team by a large margin.

Ika, unlike the Browns’ other pick in the third round, is a durable player, who can impact the team’s defense immediately. He’s not much of a pass-rusher but the Browns needed a big body in the middle of the defensive line who can gobble up players and that’s what Ika brings to the table.

Ika is a consistent player but isn’t a major player-maker. He’s consistent, as his PFF grade has not changed much over the last three seasons. In 2020 he earned a score of 73.8, in 2021 he earned a score of 74.3 and in 2022 he earned a score of 74.4.

The Cleveland Browns needed what Siaki Ika brings to the table.

Ika isn’t a playmaker like Myles Garrett or Aaron Donald, but a man that big is going to make it hard for offensive lines to move him off the line of scrimmage. He reminds me of former Browns and Lions tackle Shaun Rogers, a man so massive that he didn’t have to be a standout player or athlete.

Ika immediately jumps to the head of the depth chart at the position, and will likely join Dalvin Tomlinson as the team’s starter at defensive tackle. The Browns needed a player like Ika early in the draft, and he’s a heck of a way to end day two of the 2023 NFL Draft.
