#1. Houston Texans select Teddy Bridgewater, Louisville, Quarterback – The Houston Texans select Teddy Bridgewater with the first pick in the 2014 NFL draft.  The Texans are in desperate need of a young, skilled quarterback who has the potential to become their franchise guy, and Teddy Bridgewater fits that bill. It will be interesting to see if the Texans bring in a veteran to start while Teddy learns the ropes or if they plan on immediately implementing him as their starting quarterback.  Personally, I hope it’s the latter.  This kid is really fun to watch and he’s smart.  If the Texans don’t choose a quarterback for the first pick in the draft (which is asinine), I’m not sure who else they’d take.  They have so many other holes to fill it would likely be Jadeveon Clowney or an OLB before they attempted to draft any offensive linemen.

Selection Made By House of Houston. Check out more about the Texans here at their site.

#2. St. Louis Rams select Sammy Watkins, Clemson, Wide Receiver – Now I know this will sound crazy. Taking a wide receiver 2nd overall? However, he fits a need for the St. Louis Rams. Tavon Austin is a fantastic football player. However the Rams were not productive throwing the football. The St. Louis Rams ranked 27th in the NFL in passing yards. Some of that had to do with the injury to Sam Bradford but even when healthy Bradford was average at best. So if the Rams are going to gain more yards through the air, how can they do that? Getting a better quarterback is the obvious answer however that might be off the table so you get a playmaker at wide receiver that can turn a short pass into a long touchdown.

Selection Made by Arch Authority. See more details about this selection at their site here.

(Hypothetical) #2 Washington Redskins select Jake Matthews, Texas A&M, Offensive Tackle – The Washington Redskins would select Jake Matthews with the second pick. Matthews fills a need for the Washington Redskins. He will fit right in at the right tackle position. Other options for this pick include Anthony Barr, Taylor Lewan, and Greg Robinson.
