We are back with out 7 Round Cleveland Browns’ Mock Draft. There are many Mock Drafts out there, and unlike seasons past we Cleveland fans have very little information on what the Browns might do. At this point at #4 they could take either of the offensive tackles (Jake Matthews or Greg Robinson), either of the premier defenders (Jadeveon Clowney or Khalil Mack), the premier offensive weapon (Sammy Watkins), one of the 4 QBs rumored to go high (Johnny Manziel, Blake Bortles, Teddy Bridgewater or Derek Carr) or one of any number of surprise candidates that we will cover this upcoming week.

For now we know where they will be drafting, the needs that they have and the people making the decisions. We know Ray Farmer loves football players who lead and like to Get Down the Field. We know Mike Pettine is a defensive minded coach who has specialized in a 3-4 hybrid type defense, and that he is intense. We know Kyle Shanahan is the offensive coordinator and will bring in a version of the Zone Blocking Scheme along with his creative play action pass offense. That is what we know at this point in time. We also have some idea of who the Browns tried to get in free agency that they didn’t. They sought some cornerbacks, wide receivers, linebackers and defensive linemen that didn’t end up in Cleveland. That may be a hint towards what they want to upgrade in the draft as well.

So for our FoS 7 Round Cleveland Browns Mock Draft we can only make choices based on that information. While many see a need on the offensive line, the Browns didn’t seem greatly interested in any of the free agents that could of filled those needs. They did pursue Matt Schaub for the QB position but weren’t willing to give up the draft pick needed to get him, does that mean they are sold on a guy in the draft or don’t see a big need to upgrade over Hoyer? More questions, less answers. We again used FanSpeak’s awesome Mock Draft Simulator to create our Mock Draft, we do our own for our 1st round Mocks, which lets us simulate real life picks, surprises, etc. On to our draft:

I don’t see Robinson, Garropollo, and Hyde falling that far in the draft. Robinson is going to be gone in the late 1st or early 2nd. I can see Garrapollo falling to mid/late 2nd or early 3rd, but don’t see him making it to #83. Same with Hyde he’ll be gone early/mid 3rd don’t see him making it till the 4th round.

No offensive lineman? The Browns need protection more than top recievers. Definitely a need to upgrade the offensive line. If nothing else, someone that can play center for when Alex Mack leaves frustrated over the whole transition tag situation.

What about at WR? They just inked Hawkins to a nice deal and at the earliest they draft one in round 2. Personally, I think that they wait til the third round (at least) for a WR. I like the pick of Mack though if he is available. I think that they will go QB either at #26 or in the 2nd round plus another QB somewhere in rounds 5-7.
