Cleveland Browns Fans Preferences Vary to How Team Uses First Round Picks

NFL fans have a wide assortment of opinions regarding their team’s draft picks and how the organization should go about improving the team at the end of the month.  With just ten days till the 2015 NFL Draft, most fans have their preferences on who’s their guy that they want on their team.

The Cleveland Browns have two first round picks again, and Browns fans are no different regarding opinions on the NFL Draft. So I ask you Browns fans, what is your preference for how the team should use their first round picks?

Hypothetically, let’s say the team’s plan is to get a WR and a DL or OL in the first round.  All three of those options are very realistic, but since there are quality EDGE rushers and very good defensive players in general, projected to go early, Cleveland could go WR/Defense at #12.

Cleveland needs to draft one or two players along the offensive line, but if the team does not grab someone in the first, they can get someone early in the second as there should be quality late first round linemen dropping to the second day. At #19, the team could get the defensive lineman, EDGE rusher, among the many options.

Some people want to take another QB in Marcus Mariota or someone in the mid to late rounds. The fans who have the logic that they will not even consider a quarterback till later because of the other needs that have to be filled and/or they want to see more out of Johnny Manziel is completely understandable.

Others may lean to a wide receiver, perhaps offensive line too.  The Browns did struggle on defense against the run, so players such as Danny Shelton, Alvin Dupree, Malcolm Brown, and others would definitely help that issue.

I know some fans would like to split up the two first round picks with a need being filled on both sides of the ball. That is smart and is a good idea, but if a guy is not graded high enough to be worthy of a certain pick or have players on the same side of the ball as the first pick graded higher, then I could not agree going forward with that philosophy; why reach for someone?

Ray Farmer in his first draft did not go after WR which many fans questioned.  He did sign Dwayne Bowe and Brian Hartline this off season which helps, but I also expect him to select a top WR early and help add to the position with more depth.

Farmer is not shy from trading during the draft and with many options the team could go with, it is anyone’s guess what exactly he will do.

The best part of the draft outside of the hopeful draft picks filling team’s needs on the roster may be the complete uncertainty; not just for one team, but for the whole league as well as the surprise picks no one expected, traded veterans, and the whole experience in general.
