The Cleveland Browns may be looking to make a change at running back.

This offseason, the Cleveland Browns have already made some key moves to bolster their roster. From extensions to being signed or that could be on the radar to filling key needs, the Browns have been very busy.

More extensions are bound to happen any time now given who could be extended and the way Cleveland is building. One name in particular to keep in mind is linebacker Christian Kirksey.

As Cleveland continues to improve their roster, especially along the offensive line, more upgrades should be coming. One position worthy of an adjustment is running back.

The position is not a glaring need and running back Isaiah Crowell would succeed behind the new line. However, there are other options the Browns could go with in the draft or in free agency that would be an upgrade over the former UDFA signee.

Cleveland has been trying to work out a long-term deal with Crowell, but so far no luck. As a result, the Browns placed a second round tender on the running back. Crowell has been solid so far and has more potential to possibly achieve. Those are just a couple of reasons why teams could be interested.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, three teams expressed interest in Crowell.

Without further information, the speculation as to which teams has expressed interest is anyone’s guess. Among the teams that could be a fit are the Seattle Seahawks, Jacksonville Jaguars, Green Bay Packers, and Minnesota Vikings.

Since a team would have to figure out a long-term deal with Crowell and give up a second rounder, the chances of an actual trade are likely pretty low.

Had Crowell been a bigger name or at least someone with better stats, perhaps the chances would be different.

So, the question has to be asked, would you be okay with Crowell dealt in return for a second round pick? As mentioned, the Browns upgraded in a big way their offensive line, so there could be no reason to consider moving Crowell.

However, a second round pick is still a second round pick. Another early selection could add to the Browns’ options in terms of a blockbuster trade, possibly during the draft. Should Cleveland decide they want to seriously deal Crowell, the Browns should have their pick of upgrades given the state of the offensive line, cap space, and number of picks.

Considering the options of another second rounder or Crowell, I have to side with the former. I would not be against the idea of bringing back Crowell. That said, being that he is a restricted free agent and there are players available in the draft and free agency who has better skill sets, acquiring another pick is tempting.

The following could be nice replacements: Latavius Murray (free agent), Alvin Kamara (University of Tennessee prospect), and Samaje Perine (University of Oklahoma prospect).

In addition, I would also welcome the idea of bringing back Crowell but not in terms of a RB1 role. That is where a back like Murray who has been sharing more of his workload in the NFL lately comes into the equation.

As the Browns continue to make strides, a decision will have to be made. Do they stick with Crowell or do they look elsewhere?
