Don’t be surprised if multiple Ohio State players ends up winning awards for their play this season.

As one of the most consistent and successful college football programs in the nation, Ohio State is used to winning in many ways. There are the on-field wins that leads to championships and then there are those that individuals achieve on their own.

However, those players’ performances are impacted by members surrounding them on the field. At the end of the day, people will remember big time games and overall great seasons.

Those that can put together the two and lead their teams to double-digit wins and a chance to play in the playoffs likely will be in the running for individual position awards at the end of the season.

Kickoff for the 2017 season is still months away, but the preseason awards watch lists have been listed. Prior to the start of 2017, the Ohio State football program announced three players who are on such lists. More should be added or at least considered once the games start.

Those three players are center Billy Price (who will be switching from guard for his senior season), and defensive ends Tyquan Lewis and Sam Hubbard. Price is up for the Rimington Trophy, while Lewis and Hubbard are up for the Lott IMPACT Trophy.

For those that does not know, ohiostatebuckeyes.com broke down what exactly each trophy is known for. Given the position, the Rimington Trophy is given to the top center. Meanwhile, per that website, this is what the Lott IMPACT Trophy is known for:

"The Lott Trophy recognizes athletic performance and the personal character attributes of the player."

All three players are at least day two prospects for the 2018 NFL Draft heading into the season. Both Lewis and Hubbard could be viewed by some as first round prospects with each player possibly being a top-15 pick when it is all said and done.

Yes, two players at the same position and the same school vying for the same award gives Ohio State leverage over other schools hoping one of their own wins an award. However, Price was a very good guard in college and should transition easily to center.

I am confident at least one of those awards will be won by a Buckeye. In addition, seeing both awards won by Ohio State players would not be a surprising either. Assuming their core stays healthy, another playoff appearance is going to happen and as a result, chances for individuals to win awards will increase.
