#17 Dallas Cowboys Select Ra’Shede Hageman, Minnesota, Defensive tackle – The Dallas Cowboys select Ra’Shede Hageman with the 17th pick. Hageman fills a need at the defensive tackle position. Hageman will step right in at the defensive tackle position, next to Ben Bass or Jason Hatcher. This depends if Hatcher comes back to Dallas in free agency. Other options for this pick include Trent Murphy and Calvin Pryor.

#18 New York Jets Select Eric Ebron, UNC, Tight End – The New York Jets select Eric Ebron with the 18th pick. This offseason for the New York Jets, tight ends Jeff Cumberland, Kellen Winslow, and Konrad Reuland are all going to be free agents. Even if the Jets do resign any of these players, they still will not have a quality tight end when compared to the rest of the NFL. Eric Ebron is an incredible athlete, a phenomenal route runner, and has one of the best hands for any pass-catcher in college football. Although his blocking is inconsistent, his big-play ability is exactly what the Jets’ offense needs. While some may believe that the Jets should draft a wide receiver such as Marquise Lee in the first round, the Jets’ biggest problem at that position wasn’t talent, but injury. If you look back to this season, when both Santonio Holmes and Jeremy Kerley were healthy the Jets were 5-2, which is encouraging enough to search for an upgrade at a different position in the first round. Other possible selections here would be WR Marquise Lee and TE Jace Amaro, although at the time Eric Ebron appears to be the best option. However, Jace Amaro is also a great tight end, and be sure to watch both Ebron and Amaro at the combine as whoever performs better will likely be a New York Jet come May.
