26. Cleveland Browns (from Indianapolis)
Allen Robinson
WR, Penn State

  • With the Browns going defense with the #4 pick they need to add to their offensive arsenal. Derek Carr would feel like the Brandon Weeden pick of a few years back and he may not fit Pettine’s offensive desire. If the draft plays out this way expect the Browns to try to move out or back, gaining additional picks in a QB heavy draft of 2015. Robinson gives them a solid route runner to pair with Josh Gordon, though also expect the Browns to shop for a WR in free agency.

27. New Orleans Saints
Ryan Shazier
OLB, Ohio State

  • The Saints defense came alive under Rob Ryan this year, with a historic turn around. A versatile player like Shazier could help keep them high in defensive rankings. Shazier showed the ability to rush the passer and play in coverage a must in Ryan’s multiple and UFO fronts.

28. Carolina Panthers
Kony Ealy
DE, Missouri

  • The Panthers made the playoffs on the legs of their dominant defense and with the arm of Cam Newton. Adding Ealy to the pile gives the Panthers another lineman to rush the passer, a need with Matt Ryan and Drew Brees in the division. The strong gets stronger here.

29. New England Patriots
Timmy Jernigan
DT, Florida State

  • The Patriots need to add to their offense, especially on the outside, but this is too high for Jordan Matthews or Jarvis Jones. Instead Bill Bellichick adds to his defense front 7 that was hurt by injuries with the addition of Jernigan. CJ Mosley would also be an option here.

30. San Francisco 49ers
Calvin Pryor
Safety, Louisville

  • Defense may not be a huge need but the defensive backfield could use an influx of youth and talent. Pryor is the highest rated DB at this point and is the selection. The 9ers like to think long term so don’t rule out a defensive end or linebacker on the defensive side or a Jarvis Jones type receiver with Boldin getting up there in age.

31. Denver Broncos
CJ Mosley
ILB, Alabama

  • The Broncos made the Super Bowl with a patch work defense and a stellar offense. Mosley may not be the biggest need in Denver but his value is high. The Broncos also could look to replace Eric Decker, bound for free agency, with a high pick.

32. Seattle Seahawks
Bradley Roby
CB, Ohio State

  • Opposite the Broncos the Seahawks rode their defense to the Super Bowl, but may lose a couple of their corners this off-season. Roby has the requisite tackling ability needed by Pete Carroll and has big game experience to step right in and play. His lackluster 2013 season could be used against him but solid workouts will change that.
