New 7 Round 2014 NFL Mock Draft From Matt Miller
"The Pick: WR Brandin Cooks, Oregon State Brandin Cooks has the speed, the hands and the vision to be an immediate threat for the Browns. And he’s versatile enough to play outside the hashes or in the slot, depending on the personnel and the matchup. Put Cooks in the slot with Manziel running a zone read, and you have the makings of a damn good package play that few defenses can run with."
- Even with Allen Robinson and other wide receivers on the board Miller has the little known Cooks to the Browns. Based on Miller’s description Cooks provides the team with a different type of athlete then the Browns currently have. While Travis Benjamin has speed he struggles some as a receiver. Cooks’s hands and vision would make for interesting packages. Adding a dynamic receiver on the field with Josh Gordon, Jordan Cameron, Benjamin and Manziel could make for interesting problems for a defense.
"(2nd Round) 3. Cleveland Browns: RB Carlos Hyde, Ohio State"
- In the second round Miller makes many Ohio Browns fans happy with the selection of Hyde and in doing so rounded out much of the offensive needs in 3 quick picks. Hyde’s strength, burst and ability to catch the ball out of the backfield is high level. While not the runner Marshawn Lynch is he could play the role quite well. Adding Hyde to Manziel and Cooks, as possibly some line help in free agency, means the Browns offense all of a sudden is dynamic.
