#71 – Donte Moncrief

The Browns still get a chance to add a solid #2 receiver in Moncrief. He has a chance to be a top level WR with some coaching and time to develop. With the Browns he will be an option in his first season but given the time to develop over the first 2 seasons. He has some struggles with his routes and how he catches the ball but both should be able to be worked on. Moncrief had terrible quarterback play which impacted him in a variety of ways.

Adding two receiving threats within the first 4 picks seems a bit much but gives Brian Hoyer every chance to develop into a starter. If he can’t the next QB will have weapons all over the field to work with. Filling holes with value like Moncrief is a perfect way of drafting. Again linemen were not readily available at this point and Moncrief’s upside is undeniable as seen in his Ole Miss highlights:
