With the Third Pick in the 2014 NBA Draft the Philadelphia 76ers Select….

Dante Exum. We will cover a possible trade in the next paragraph but Exum seems to be the fit for the 76ers as they look to build on last year’s terrible season. Exum and Nerlens Noel will both share the season as their first in the NBA. Interestingly the Sixers are shopping Michael Carter-Williams to try to either get to #1 or to move up from #10. Exum and MCW would be a unique pairing, with one of them having to improve their jump shot to really share the floor together but they could be a dynamic defensive pair, especially with Noel watching their backs.

When the Sixers call Griffin gives them 2 clear choices for them to pick up Wiggins. The Sixers can give up #3, #10, #32 and Thad Young for Wiggins or #3, #10, Young and MCW for Wiggins and Dion Waiters. With all the leverage Griffin is able to set his bar high. Either trade gives the Cavs the chance to draft Joel Embiid at #3 while adding right now assets. If the Sixers don’t see MCW as a part of their future they could look to land hometown kid Waiters while the Cavs get a player with more height who can fit well with the deft shooting of Kyrie Irving. While both trades might seem like steals for the Cavs, Griffin learned the art of the trade from Chris Grant and realizes he has all the leverage. If this trade doesn’t go down…
