With the Fourth Pick in the 2014 NBA Draft the Orlando Magic Select….
Marcus Smart. This is the first spot many think Embiid could come off the board, if the Cavs don’t trade back. Yet the Magic need to find someone to run the team with Victor Oladipo moving over to the 2 guard spot. Smart, Oladipo, Harkless and the rest of the young Magic could be setup to contend for a playoff spot next season. Embiid’s health issues as well as already having an established center make him a luxury pick that is too much at this point. Noah Vonleh the athletic, stretch 4 would be the other pick here if not Smart.
If the Sixers pass on the Cavs offer Griffin would still be getting offers, next by the Magic. The Magic would love a chance at Wiggins to play some 2 and 3 for them and fill the role they thought Grant Hill would of years ago. The Cavs still hold the leverage as they can very well fit Wiggins on their team and have a need at the small forward spot. Griffin also gives the Magic a choice but this time a player specific choice: The Magic trade #4, #12 and either Arron Afflalo or Maurice Harkless. The Magic will assuredly choose to move Afflalo but could be talked into Harkless. The Cavs would then have either player at the 3 spot, though Afflalo is a little small he can play that role and has in the past. At #4 they would take Embiid and at #12 they would take the most ready prospect left in the draft at that point. If the Magic pass the Cavs hold on to Wiggins until….
