Manziel proved Mike Pettine correct when he only played with the second team.

As expected, he did some great things with his legs. When he did let it rip, he showed good accuracy and great arm strength, going 7-of-11 for 63 yards. His longest run was for 16 yards, and he netted 27 yards on six carries.

Like Hoyer, Manziel was let down by some drops–most notably, a 3rd-and-4 drop by Willie Snead late in the third quarter quarter. The No. 22 overall pick  led the Browns to three points, but like Hoyer, couldn’t lead the Browns into the end zone.

Yes, drops killed both quarterbacks, so it’s kind of hard to determine which quarterback has the leg up heading into practice next week.

Hoyer didn’t turn the ball over and played smart. His surgically repaired knee also held up. Manziel did a decent job with the cards he was dealt, and showed why his athleticism makes him such an intriguing prospect.
